Effectively communicating to our residents and to our staff is always important for all health care workers but especially this critical knowledge is needed during this COVID-19 pandemic.  Our skilled nursing and assisted living workforce need support and guidance as they care for those at the greatest risk for COVID-19 infection. NYSHFA-NYSCAL is offering a free audio conference for our members as listed below:

Effective End of Life Communications with Staff and Residents. The ability to communicate ensures we are capable of passing and receiving necessary information in the care of our residents. In this session Dr Bomba will:

  • Discuss the engagement of Medical Directors, Physicians, Nurse Practioners, Physician Assistants
  • Apply effective communication skills and self-care strategies for all staff
  • Review principles of humanitarianism: save lives and prevent/alleviate human suffering
  • Describe the key role and critical need for review/renew of MOLST/eMOLST orders in PALTC
  • Explain the need for care plans that include palliation and supportive care for those who wish to be treated in place
