DOH: Influenza Surveillance Report for the week ending 1/11/2020

This Informational Message is being sent to you by the NYSDOH Bureau of Communicable Disease Control (BCDC), which produces a weekly statewide influenza surveillance report from October through May. Attached is the influenza surveillance report for the week ending January 11, 2020. Also included in the report is a CDC health advisory that was sent out on January 10, 2020 to remind clinicians that influenza B viruses can cause severe illness in people of all ages, including children. CDC continues to recommend influenza vaccination and prompt antiviral treatment of high-risk outpatients and hospitalized patients with suspected influenza.

This surveillance report is also available on the NYSDOH's public website at: http://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/influenza/surveillance/ as well as on the NYSDOH's password-protected Health Commerce System (HCS). To access the report on the HCS, log onto the HCS using your HCS password, select "Content" from the menu bar, then "Documents by Group">"NYSDOH">Diseases and Conditions">"Influenza"> "Surveillance">"Weekly Reports 2019-20 Season."
