Release of CMS/CDC Infection Preventionist Training

Nancy Leville and Lisa Volk in Clinical & Quality

We are writing to update you about AHCA’s Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO) program and the CMS/CDC release this week of their new infection control education program to train Infection Preventionists (IPs) working in nursing facilities.

When we first notified the membership of CMS’ plan to develop its own IP training a year ago, we were not certain of what CMS/CDC would produce.  Now that their training has been released, we can share more information, including their listed training modules.  Should you have members who want to compare the difference between the CMS/CDC course and AHCA’s, we have attached the course syllabus for AHCA’s IPCO training as a resource to share.  See attached for more details.
