in Education

Join NYSHFA/NYSCAL on April 11th at 10am for the How Does It Feel to Have Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disease Audio Conference. Mental illness, dementia and other behavioral health conditions in the nursing home are well recognized challenges. Schizophrenia effects the residents ability to think clearly, manage emotions, make decisions, and relate to others while Bipolar Disease is marked by alternating periods of elation and depression. As the number of residents with these conditions entering nursing homes grow the importance of management of these disorders is critical. Dr. Riddle will walk you through each of these diseases and how we can better understand, treat and plan person centered care interventions to improve the quality of these residents’ lives.
