Skilled Nursing Care Week Stories Wanted

Joanne O'Connor

National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, (May 13 to 19) is one of the best opportunities NYSHFA members have to generate positive press coverage about their facilities. Now is the time to be thinking about inviting local press to the special events you have planned at your facility.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Life’s Stories.”  Taking time to listen to how life’s most significant events, relationships, and experiences have shaped who others are today cultivates a shared sense of purpose and deeper understanding for both the narrator and the listener. The theme for the observance, “Celebrating Life’s Stories,” pays tribute to the diverse perspectives that residents, families, and staff bring to interactions every day in skilled nursing care centers and the surrounding communities.

The American Health Care Association offers a Planning Guide with very helpful information on their website at: https://www.ahcancal.org/events/national_skilled_nursing_care_week/Pages/default.aspx.

Attached press release template you may use to publicize your events. If you need assistance in publicizing your NSNCW activities, please complete the attached survey and return to Joanne O’Connor at NYSHFA by May 4, 2018.
