Northwell Health 5th Annual Shining the Light on Wound Care Symposium

Scott Jackson

This CME activity aims to provide Wound Care professionals and specialists with up-to-date knowledge and techniques of current wound care practices.  It will cover various wound related ailments such as neuropathic ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous stasis, diabetes and melanomas.  Identifying complex wounds and controlling infections will also be addressed.  Track 3 has been added focusing on home care and managing wounds and the patient's care experience with chronic wounds.

The need for this activity stems from the ever changing and expanding fund of knowledge that exists in the Wound Care field. This symposium will address current concerns and knowledge gaps as well as provide various solutions to everyday problems faced by wound care practitioners and patients.

Participants can expect to increase their knowledge of how to manage wound care patients through new techniques and hands-on skills experience.  Participants will gain insight into the different treatment options available for the care of multiple types of wound care patients.   Current nutritional guidelines and rehabilitative sides of healing will be utilized in practice.   Clinicians can also expect to apply a variety of pain reduction strategies using opioid therapy and alternative methods for chronic wound care patients.
