NYSDOH Antimicrobial Resistance Prevention and Control Task Force

Nancy Leveille in Clinical & Quality

On November 30, 2017, NYSDOH held their 2nd  annual statewide task force meeting. C- Auris and its spread was a major topic discussed this year. Attached are three presentations from the program (C auris NY AMR 11-30-2017 revised; C auris Update for Nov 2017 ARTF Emily Lutterloh and Candida auris talk 11-30-17). NYSHFA encourages the SNF medical and clinical teams review this information and share pertinent information with their staff. Nancy Leveille attended this session and was one of the very few Long-Term Care representatives participating. In the breakout session for health care facilities, she discussed the need for the different levels of health care organizations to work together to share expertise, educational materials and methods for infection prevention and control. The Long- Term Care sector does not have the number of specialists and resources to do this on their own, but could benefit from shared services. She noted that many, if not all, hospitals have full departments and specialists working just on these issues. NYSHFA will continue to provide continuing education on these topics.
