Stephen B. Hanse, Esq., President of NYSHFA Announces the Appointment of Amy Kennedy as Executive Director of NYSCAL

Stephen B. Hanse, Esq., President of NYSHFA/NYSCAL, is pleased to announce that Amy Kennedy, R.N., B.S.N., M.P.A will join the Association as the Executive Director of the New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSCAL).

Amy is a healthcare professional with more than 25 years of progressive leadership, administrative and clinical experience. She has served as an Executive Director of an adult home, Executive Director of an ALP, and as an administrator of an enriched housing assisted living program.

Amy is a fierce advocate for all areas of assisted living including recently advocating to allow nurses to perform some nursing tasks in the assisted living setting. She has provided several training sessions for the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Division of Long Term Care on the ALP and to providers on the regulations involving this program. She has also participated in a workgroup convened by the NYSDOH to streamline required paperwork for the ALR.

Amy has a strong command of the regulatory construct of both the ALP and the ALR, as well as the adult home and enriched housing program. She also has specialized training and expertise in dementia care in assisted living.

Prior to joining NYSCAL, Amy served as Executive Director at the Eddy Hawthorne Ridge in East Greenbush, New York for eight years.  Amy lives in Loudonville, New York and is a member of the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce.
