Incentive Funding for Electronic Health Records (EHRs)

Lauren Pollow in Clinical & Quality

As many of you are aware, there is a pool of incentive funds called the Data Exchange Incentive Program (DEIP) available to support providers in their adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). There have been ongoing barriers to participation in the DEIP program for long-term care providers that have limited access to the available funding. Based on the feedback provided to the Qualified Entities (QEs)/RHIOs across the state, NYeC and the QEs/RHIOs have developed a set of recommendations for privacy and security that the Department of Health (DOH) has accepted. These requirements are broader than the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) certification currently required to receive funding, and the State is in the process of approving new documents and Attestation forms to reflect these changes. If you are in the process of connecting to a RHIO or adopting an EHR, please be in touch with your QE/RHIO to assess whether you will qualify for these funds after these changes take place.
