Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety Technical Assistance Workshop

The NYSDOH Office of Primary Care and Health Systems Management (OPCHSM) and the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP), with sponsorship of their colleagues at New York State Long Term Care associations, are delivering a technical assistance workshop covering Emergency Preparedness (EP) and Life Safety Code (LSC). The workshop will provide training, discuss ongoing preparedness activities and resources already available to nursing homes that can help facilities be prepared for disasters and be compliant with new regulatory requirements put forth by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) for EP and LSC.

There are two parts to the workshop program, each covering unique, though related content. Part One will address EP and Part Two will cover Life Safety Code, Fire Safety and Certificate of Need requests.The Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety Technical Assistance Workshop for Nursing Homes Announcement is attached.

Skin and Wound Management Course - 5-Day Onsite

Infection Preventionist Training Course

The Infection Preventionist Course will be offered through American Health Care Association and will help facilities prepare for meeting the ROP Phase 3 requirements. This program will be made available to our members at a discounted rate. Please see further course description which includes registration information below.

AHCA Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO) is Live!

The design and development of this training was prompted by the new CMS requirement for all centers to have a designated Infection Preventionist with specialized training. This training is an on-line, self-study program on ahcancalED with 23 hours of learning. The online program consists of nine modules each focusing on specific components of infection prevention and control. The course includes online lectures, case studies and interactive components taught by an array of experts from around the country. Participants will have the opportunity to receive a certificate of specialized training and 23 ANCC Contact Hours upon successfully completing AHCA's IPCO program.

The training is available to both AHCA members and non-members. The registration fee is $450 for AHCA members and $650 for non-members. Payment and registration is made online in ahcancalED. To access ahcancalED, an individual needs their own user login to the AHCA website. The attached flyer provides additional details. Please contact educate@ahca.org with any questions.

2017 Quality Improvement Series
