The FIDA (Fully-Integrated Dual Advantage) demonstration has expanded and is now open to eligible enrollees in both Suffolk and Westchester Counties. Please see below statement from The Department of Health.

It is with great enthusiasm that NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) announces the expansion of the Fully Integrated Duals Advantage (FIDA) Demonstration to Suffolk and Westchester Counties. Eligible individuals can enroll now through NY Medicaid Choice.

The FIDA Demonstration was originally approved to run January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017. In November, it was extended through December 2019. NYSDOH and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are committed to delivering maximum integration of care to dual eligibles to help ensure all medically necessary services are provided, care in the community is promoted, and avoidable hospitalizations and nursing facility stays are reduced.

FIDA fully integrates Medicare and Medicaid benefits in a way not previously available in New York State. Although we are approaching the end of the second demonstration year, we are still early on in terms of understanding the impact of FIDA, particularly following the updates made last winter. We have received many success stories of how FIDA has improved the lives of its participants, but the first round of preliminary data from the independent evaluation is still likely at least six months away. The two-year extension allows us more time to assess the positive impact of FIDA on quality and cost of care.
