Lyn Bentley, Vice President of Quality & Regulatory Affairs for the American Health Care Association was a guest speaker at the NYSHFA / NYSCAL Fall Conference yesterday, leading a very informative session on the CMS Requirements of Participation for nursing centers. Lyn presented an overall review of the new expectations in the Requirements of Participation. She outlined when CMS expects nursing centers to be in compliance with the new regulations. Lyn also provided insight on how facilities can determine which new requirements to tackle first within their center. A copy of Lyn’s PowerPoint presentation is attached.

DOH Updates Fall Conference Attendees

Author: Carl J. Pucci* Published in Finance & Reimbursement

DOH officials presented a Medicaid update yesterday at NYSHFA’s Fall Conference. In addition to the rate-setting issues raised at their recent monthly briefing (see last week’s member mailing), DOH announced that CMS had just approved the Shared Savings proposal that the Capital Workgroup (with input from the Payment for Services Committee) had initiated during 2015. The proposal would allow providers who have been approved for eligible mortgage refinancings to share in the related Medicaid reimbursement savings. (Note: post 4/23/16 closings.) DOH will be reviewing policy documents and a DAL is expected with further details. The Capital Workgroup will reconvene in early 2017 to focus on operational aspects related to the shared savings initiative. NYSHFA will provide further updates as information is released.

Attached are yesterday’s DOH PowerPoint slides related to all current rate-setting issues.
