AHCA Analyzes 5 Star Changes

Author: Nancy Leveille and Lisa Volk* Published in Clinical & Quality

On August 10, CMS released the July 2016 Five Star ratings, adding five new quality measures to the quality rating, reducing the minimum sample size on each of the measures, making changes to the way CMS handles missing QMs in the calculation, and changing the ADL QM point scoring methodology to be based on the national distribution rather than state-specific distributions. AHCA has calculated the rate of change for NYS AHCA members and compares to all NYS SNF. In addition, AHCA has calculated the same rates of change for the national comparisons. See attached charts for your review. AHCA also has a wonderful toolkit to assist with your individual 5 Star rating and talking points which you can utilize for public relations for your community. You can access the toolkit and information at: Go to LearnED: 5 Star: What You Need to Know.
