Under a Milbank Foundation Grant, HANYS will be hosting the 2016 Palliative Care Education series. These webcast are free of charge. See announcement below for registration information.

  • HANYS will launch its 2016 Palliative Care Education Series on Thursday, January 21 with Overcoming Resistance to Palliative Care, featuring nationally recognized expert Diane Meier, M.D., F.A.C.P., Director, Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC).
  • HANYS will continue to offer palliative care programs throughout the year, focusing on key policy, clinical, and operational issues across multiple settings.

HANYS, with the generous support from the Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation, will hold a webinar series for healthcare providers seeking to initiate or expand access to palliative care for patients, residents, and families. Faculty are nationally recognized experts in the field.

The first program in the series will explain the core components of palliative care, with an emphasis on:

  • defining palliative care;
  • the distinction between palliative care and hospice;
  • how to bring the basic elements of palliative care to patients and residents; and
  • how to overcome resistance among both patients/residents and physicians.
