NYSDOH Resources for Influenza Season 2015-2016

Attached to this member mailing is a notification from the NYSDOH Bureau of Immunizations containing two resources to help support your work encouraging residents and employees to get vaccinated against the flu, including: a DOH order form for free flu publications and fact sheets and an overview of ideas and activities that can be used to promote flu vaccination now and later in the flu season.

As you know, flu season can last through May and even into June. An annual flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances of getting the flu and lessen the chances of spreading it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through the community.

This year National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) is December 6 - December 12. This yearly observance is an opportunity to highlight the importance of the flu vaccine, especially into January and beyond. You can find helpful NIVW resources at this CDC site: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/NIVW/index.htm
