DOH Releasing 2014 NHQI Data

Nancy Leveille Karen Morris and Carl Pucci in Clinical & Quality

DOH released the 2014 NYS Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) data last week on the HCS system.  Members should access the HCS to obtain their individual NHQI report for 2014.  Questions related to specific scores should be sent to Raina Josberger at NHQP@health.ny.gov.

Below is the message sent to administrators:

Good afternoon –

The results of the 2014 New York State Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) have been finalized and we are pleased to share with you your facility’s performance.

The following types of facilities are excluded from the Quality Initiative and therefore will not have a one-page report posted on the Health Commerce System (HCS):  Non-Medicaid facilities, CMS-designated Special Focus Facilities, Specialty Facilities, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, and Transitional Care Units.

There are four attachments to this email. The first attachment is the Administrator letter which provides background and instructions on accessing your facility's one-page report.  The second and third attachments outline the methodology for the 2014 NHQI and the Potentially Avoidable Hospitalizations measure.  The fourth attachment provides instructions on how to interpret your facility’s one-page report.

In the near future, the Department will be publicly releasing these results on our website (http://www.health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/redesign/nursing_home_quality_initiative.htm) and will make the dataset available on Health Data NY.

For questions about the results, please contact us at NHQP@health.ny.gov. For questions about financial awards, please contact the Bureau of Managed Long Term Care Rate Setting/FFS at NFRATES@health.ny.gov.

Sincerely,
Raina Josberger
