Audio Conference Announcement: Is Your Disaster Plan Ready

Scott Jackson CMP in Education

Join us on January 27, 2015 for "Is Your Disaster Plan Ready?  Lessons Learned From Recent Weather Events" audio conference from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm presented by David Hood and Scott Barry, Russell Phillips & Associates.

Program
The massive snowstorm that hit Buffalo in late November challenged the emergency planning of the facilities in that area. Both speakers for this audio conference were intimately involved in this and other weather events around the state and will review the essential elements of a facility’s emergency plan and how you can best prepare for the unexpected. Hear the “lessons learned” and how this storm touched on all the key components of a disaster plan and what the best practice is to “survive” the critical first 72 hours of any weather event. The speakers will also review the proposed revised CMS guidance for emergency preparedness for long term care and offer suggestions on how best to prepare for those changes.

Objectives:

  • Hear about the effects of the massive Buffalo snowstorm on long term care
  • Learn how facilities utilized multiple facets of their disaster plans to meet the challenge
  • Review the elements that constitute a comprehensive disaster plan and why
  • Learn how Mutual Aid was activated in Buffalo and why such relationships are vital
  • Review the proposed CMS changes to the emergency management requirements coming in 2015
