Prometric Nurse Aide Certification Program Memo

Author: Karen Morris* Published in Clinical & Quality

Prometric has issued the following memo to all NYS Nurse Aide Employers and Nurse Aide Training Programs related to changes in the original and renewal application submission processes which went into effect in early 2014. Failure to comply with these changes after November 1st, may result in the delay of nurse aide testing and/or certification renewals.

Dear NYS Nurse Aide Training Program and Nurse Aide Employers

Early in 2014 you were notified of the new original and renewal application submission process. The changes in the process included:

  1. The applications need to be printed from the website every time they need to be submitted.

  2. Applications without a bar code will not be accepted.

  3. Email address are required on every application.

  4. Prometric will no longer be accepting faxes.

Since the original communication was sent we have seen a steady increase in the adoption rate of these application requirements. Unfortunately at this time we do not have 100% participation from all facilities. Prometric has been accepting outdated forms which has allowed students to test and has allowed aides to renew without delay. However, effective November 1, 2014 Prometric will be enforcing and requiring 100% participation from all facilities to comply with these requirements. If any application form submitted to Prometric is used other than what is currently posted on the website, www.prometric.com/nurseaide/ny, the candidate will be delayed testing and/or the aide will be delayed from being renewed until we receive the most current application. If you have any questions please contact Prometric by emailing nycna@prometric.com or by calling 1-800-805-9128/1-800-321-6443 to speak with a customer service representative.

Title:  Preparing to Comply with Employer Requirements under the Affordable Care Act

Date & Time:  December 2, 2014 - 2:00pm – 3:00pm(EST)

Program Description:
Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, there have been some administrative delays and a number of regulations published, making it at times challenging for employers (including long term and post-acute care providers) to keep up and comply with the relevant employer shared responsibility provisions that go into effect on January 1, 2015.  As an employer, a key aspect of the health reform law is understanding and complying with these provisions.  Nicole Fallon of CliftonLarsonAllen will explain what these provisions are, and what you need to do to ensure you are prepared.  A timeline of key ACA requirements will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to get your pressing questions answered.
