DOH Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report - October 11, 2014

Karen Morris in Clinical & Quality

DOH publishes a weekly influenza surveillance report throughout influenza season. The report can be accessed at http://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/influenza/surveillance/

The most current report (attached) indicates there have been confirmed cases of influenza reported in 9 counties of the state and in New York City for the week ending October 11.

We encourage providers to ensure staff and residents receive their influenza vaccine as soon as possible. It generally takes two weeks from the time of vaccination for the body to achieve a full immune response. The Commissioner of Health will enact the requirement for masks, when and if, influenza becomes prevalent in the state. Monitor your MMs and NYSDOH Health Commerce Notifications for future announcements.
