Vote for NYSHFA’s Elected Officers at the General Membership meeting on July 1, 2014

With our Annual Convention quickly approaching (June 29 –July 2, 2014), we want to remind all members of the importance of exercising their Voting rights at the annual Election of Officers on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.

• To qualify to vote:

o Attend General Membership meeting on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Hilton Westchester, Rye Brook, New York where election of officers will take place. If you have not yet registered to attend you may do so by clicking here.

o Membership dues must be paid through March 31, 2014. Ensure you qualify to vote by checking your membership dues balance today and, if necessary, send your qualifying payment.  If you are not sure if your membership dues balance is paid through March 31, 2014, please contact Laurie Robertson.

To qualify to hold office in the Association, Article IV of the By-laws reads: “All elected officers or directors shall be actively involved in the administration or ownership of Facility Members or Provider Members in good standing at the time of election and during their tenures of office.”

Further requirements concerning voting privileges as contained in Article X of the By-laws are provided below:

Article X – Voting Membership – Meeting

Section 1. Every Facility Member and Provider Member of this Association in good standing shall be entitled to vote on all proper questions at any meeting, except that voting at the annual meeting shall be limited to those Facility Members and Provider Members whose dues have been paid through the first quarter of the calendar year in which the meeting occurs.

Section 2. Each Facility Member shall have the right and privilege of one (1) vote to be cast by one (1) person designated as the delegate representing that facility. Each Provider Member shall have the right and privilege of one-half (1/2) vote to be cast by one (1) person designated as the delegate representing that Provider. Each Facility Member and Provider Member must have a separate delegate representing that facility or provider, so that no delegate may represent more than one (1) facility or provider. Such person must be actively engaged in the administration or ownership of that Facility Member or Provider Member as the case may be.
