Join us on April 25, 2014 for "New Dining Standards of Practice" audio conference from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm presented by Karen C. Schoeneman, MPA, Former Project Leader, CMS/Pioneer Network.

Program
Subsequent to the CMS/Pioneer Network national food/dining symposium, a national workgroup of clinical organizations gathered to review and liberalize national standards of practice for therapeutic diets and related clinical dietary practices.  CMS Nutrition Guidance supports these changes.  Karen was the CMS lead for the symposium and executive producer of a CMS surveyor training broadcast released in late 2012 on these standards.  This session also covers the recent revisions to the CMS Feeding Tube guidance (F 322) and how it connects to the new Dining Standards.

Objectives

  • Attendees will be able to name and discuss 10 recent liberalizing changes made to clinical standards of practice for dining and therapeutic diets.
  • Attendees will be able to describe the “New Negative Outcome” Survey Standard for F 325 Nutrition and how it affects their diet care planning decisions.
  • Attendees will become familiar with the connection between these new clinical standards and the CMS dietary regulations and what surveyors will evaluate to determine compliance.
  • Attendees will be able to discuss the connection between the Dining Standards and the CMS revisions to the Feeding Tube Guidance to Surveyors (F 322).
