Program
Joanne Breden, DOH Complaint Intake Supervisor, will review the process for identifying and investigating complaints in skilled nursing facilities based on the most current edition of the department's complaint investigation manual and electronic reporting system.
NYSHFA Staff will review the tools and strategies included in the revised “NYSHFA’S Practical Guide to Investigating Abuse Complaints in New York State Skilled Nursing Facilities”.
Lydia Restivo of West & Restivo Quality Consulting will discuss what to do when the surveyor is talking about Immediate Jeopardy. This session will focus on your immediate response to a possible IJ, how to write an interim IJ plan of correction, DOH notification of facility compliance with the Interim POC, writing a final POC and CMS remedies for an IJ.
