Free Conference for Rural Health Care Practitioners

Karen Morris and Nancy Leveille in Clinical & Quality

Attention Health Care Practitioners in the following counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming:

Please consider registering (or tell a friend!) about this excellent geriatric care training opportunity for rural health professionals!  This educational program is being organized by the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center at the University of Rochester through a grant from the Health Foundation of Western and Central New York.  The conference features outstanding faculty in geriatrics education.  The course aims to provide training and support to practicing rural physicians, nurses, NPs and physician assistants working with geriatric patients. The course will begin with a 2 day conference Nov. 16-17th at Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, NY (see attached).  All conference expenses are paid all you need is to apply through our scholarship option!!  This includes hotel, meals, and CME credit hour registration.  We also scheduled some “free time” for you to explore the resort and Ellicottville.

We are specifically recruiting providers who are in the geographic region of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.  But any practitioner caring for older adults in rural areas of New York who is interested in improving knowledge in geriatric care is invited to attend this conference.  Registration is still open but will be closed once we hit capacity.

Over the winter months conference attendees will be invited to participate in follow-up webinars on key topics of interest in geriatric medicine and will receive faculty support in improving geriatric care. A closing one day conference will be held in WNY in the spring.  CME credits will be available through the University of Rochester and hotel accommodations at the Holiday Valley Resort will be covered through a grant by the Health Foundation.   Please complete the short application form to register for this course and conference.  Hope to see you at the conference!  If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact Lisa Simon (lsimon@hfwcny.org).

Thank you.
