Electronic Plan of Correction (ePOC) Training Reminder

Karen Morris and Nancy Leveille in Clinical & Quality

Please note that training for providers on the Electronic Plan of Correction (ePOC) system is being conducted from 7/15/13 - 7/26/13.  There are two sessions per day at 11AM and 3PM that providers can sign up for via LMS system.  For instructions on signing up for the training please see the attachment.

In an effort to streamline the communications the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will be implementing an electronic Plan of Correction (ePOC) application as follows:
      •  Nursing Homes – August 1, 2013
      •  Certified Home Care Agencies and Hospice Providers – September 1, 2013
      •  Licensed Home Care Service Agencies – October 1, 2013

The application will automate the distribution of Statements of Deficiency (SODs) and the receipt of Plans of Correction (POCs), ultimately eliminating the sending of hardcopy SODs and POCs by conventional postal mail and/or fax and streamlining the communications between NYSDOH and providers.  The ePOC application will be accessible via the Health Commerce System (HCS).

Administrators and Directors of Nursing or Patient Services that have a role in creating or approving the submission of POCs should attend.  The HCS coordinator and other provider staff involved in preparing or reviewing POC submissions are also encouraged to attend.

Providers are required to keep HCS role information current.  Your organizations HCS Coordinator must regularly review and update the staff in each role involved with the ePOC application, including their associated email address, to ensure that your organization can successfully use the ePOC application.
