On Thursday, January 11, NYSHFA staff met with DOH and the following are key points discussed:

Clarification of Notice before Transfer or Discharge Requirements

  • All transfers to the hospital must be reported to the ombudsman at least monthly.

C Auris Onsite Visit Update and Next Steps

  • DOH has noted many problems with onsite assessment of SNF in NYS regarding handwashing, environmental cleaning and PPE protocol. This will now be a highlighted survey issue.

New LTC Survey Process Update

  • Most surveys are taking longer and having larger teams.

CMS Schizophrenia Focused Surveys

  • Five facilities will have a survey focused on care of residents with Schizophrenia.
